ON THE DAY
On the day there will be four rounds, each testing your bar back skills, endurance and love of Fernet-Branca. Teams will be drawn at random, with each round being a knock out. The final will be a battle between two teams for the chance to win a trip to the Milan. Teams won’t find out what is involved until the day of the competition, but influence from previous bar back games will be taken.
What qualifies you to enter the Barback Games?
This year we want to celebrate the return of hospitality by celebrating every role in the bar. At times even, the bar owner must do the roles of a bar back. Just because you may do multiple jobs, does not mean you’re not a qualified bar back participant and able to enter the competition. So please feel free to enter if you work in any role within a pub, bar, restaurant or club. It’s open to all to compete for the title.

The Promoter
The promoter is Sazerac UK trading as Hi-Spirits, 60 Marina Place, Hampton Wick, KT1 2BH
The Competition Entry
Compete in Fernet-Branca’s 2023 Barback Games.
The opening date for entries is 00.01 1st August 2022. The closing date of the competition is 23:59 8th September 2023.
Teams must be made of 2 competitors from the same hospitality venue. 10 teams will be selected as finalists and notified by 23:59 on 11th September 2023. Finalists will compete at the Fernet-Branca Barback Games in a series of knock-out challenges inspired by bartending and Fernet-Branca. Travel and accommodation will be provided for finalists outside of London.
Online website platform will be open for entry 1st August – 8th September 2023
Finalists announced 11th September 2023.
Entries are open to all UK hospitality individuals from any position, who are residents in the UK aged 18 or over.
All entries must be received by Sazerac UK no later than 23:59 on the closing date. All entries received after the closing date will not be entered. Entries must be submitted online at https://staging.fernet-branca.co.uk/barbackgames/
Final winning team will be decided and notified by the judges at the live event by 02:00 25/09/23.
The Prizes
The winning team of two will win two spaces on a trip to Italy with Fernet-Branca. Travel, accommodation, food and drink will all be paid for by Hi-Spirits.
By entering, you hereby warrant that all information submitted in your entry is true, accurate and complete in every respect. Sazerac UK reserves the right to verify any information contained in your entry and/or your eligibility to enter.
Sazerac UK will not accept responsibility for entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause. No responsibility can be accepted for any technical failures of any kind or any unauthorised intervention in any part of the entry process, nor for any technical or human error, which may occur in the administration of the competitions or the processing of entries.
Eligibility
The competition is only open to all residents in the UK aged 18 and over that work within the hospitality sector.
Employees of the Promoter or any business involved or associated with the competitions, any of the Promoter’s agencies and any of their parent and/or affiliate companies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible to enter. The Promoter reserves the right to verify entrants’ eligibility.
In the event of any dispute regarding the competitions, the decision of the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these Terms and Conditions.
Claiming a position in the final
The finalists and Sazerac UK will be notified by email within 5 days of the finalists being announced.
The winner will be notified in person at the event with confirmation sent via email within 7 days of the event.
No prize will be awarded where any entrant has committed any form of misconduct (determined by Sazerac UK in its sole discretion).
Data protection and publicity
If your entry to the barback Games is successful, you agree that Sazerac UK may use your name to announce the winner of the prize draw and for any other reasonable and related promotional purpose.
Sazerac UK reserves the right to use finalists’ image, voice and information across media channels in the UK and internationally as part of promoting the event in perpetuity. Sazerac UK reserves the right to collect video and photographic content of the finalists for us in media in perpetuity.
The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified.
General
Any information submitted by you must be personal to and relate specifically to you. You hereby warrant that the information which you submit and/or distribute will not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or any other rights of any third party, and will not contain anything which is libellous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening.
The Promoter reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove and disqualify any entry that does not adhere to these Terms and Conditions.
The Promoter reserves the right to amend or withdraw the competitions if circumstances arise which are beyond its control.
The winners may be required to take part in any publicity accompanying or resulting from the competitions. By entering the competitions, you hereby assign to the Promoter the complete copyright and all other intellectual property rights whatsoever in any promotional and advertising material and similar which arises out of or is in connection with the competitions.
The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the operation of the competitions or to be acting in violation of these Terms and Conditions or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person deliberately to undermine the legitimate operation of the competitions may be a violation of criminal and civil law and, should such an attempt be made, the Promoter reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Promoter’s failure to enforce any of these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Except where prohibited, entrants agree that: (1) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the competitions, but in no event legal fees; and (2) under no circumstances will entrants be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrants hereby waive all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages otherwise increased.
Sazerac UK does not accept any responsibility for accidents/ losses/ theft whilst the winners are participating the prize.
